A Journey Like No Other

You’re On a Journey Like No Other

Growing a family is like no other journey, especially if it presents more of a challenge than expected. After you’ve been trying to conceive for a while with no success, you begin to wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” If you have conceived but cannot seem to hold the pregnancy to term, you are deeply saddened and frustrated. You are consumed by the question, “Why can’t I do the one fundamental thing that women are supposed to be able to do?”

The roller coaster of trying to be okay with it and desperately wanting only one outcome creates massive uncertainty and confusion. Sex becomes a scheduled chore rather than an opportunity for intimacy and loving closeness. Having “our baby” becomes a clinical endeavor rather than a natural and spontaneous expression of love. Feelings of betrayal, failure, and isolation become dominant and overwhelming. It seems everyone else can get pregnant easily, and there are babies everywhere except in your arms.
