Broadly speaking, there are two groups of grief psychology: conventional models and emerging models. Creative grief coaching arises from emerging models based on current research and is founded specifically in a model developed by Cath Duncan and Kara LC Jones called Shameless Grief. The experience of Shameless Grief incorporates the following values:
- Wholehearted living
- Natural resilience
- Resourcefulness and creativity
- Relationship—with self, the deceased, and others
- Grief as a learning opportunity rather than an illness
We are constantly experiencing loss. Sometimes it effects us more dramatically than other times. We could even define loss very simply as change. Sometimes change hits us harder than other times.
The compounding disappointment of not conceiving month after month amounts to a deep experience of grief for most women. This is not obvious to everyone. More obvious, of course, is loss through miscarriage or stillbirth. Sometimes, the road to parenthood delivers us to devastating destinations no matter how diligent our navigation.
I support you to return to living wholeheartedly after loss. In our work together, we may even discover that this transformation brings about wholehearted living for the first time since childhood. It’s beautiful!
