Fertility Journey Survey: Wonderful Response

Thank You
I am so inspired by the response to my request for survey participants. Thank you everyone who made referrals and who came forward to participate. The response is truly beyond my expectations. How wonderful! I am doing the interviews by phone, in-person, or via an electronic version of the questions. And then there’s the process of organizing the information and making sense of it all in a way that will applicably serve my clients.

Each fertility journey story is significant, unique, and full of the messiness and complexity of life. Beautiful — I love it!

If you still want to participate, please contact me. My intention is to close the survey February 29, but we’ll see how it goes. The more stories, the fuller the overall mosaic of the fertility journey.

History and Motivation
Here’s a quick snapshot of my own fertility journey and some of the motivation behind my survey. I was on a long and frustrating, saddening, and then finally uplifting fertility journey myself over the course of 10 years. I tried every traditional and non-traditional treatment there is to enhance my chances of becoming pregnant. There are so many challenges that came up during my journey: feelings of isolation, disconnection from myself and my friends, feelings of inadequacy (what’s wrong with my body?), marriage troubles, depression, loss of faith, hopelessness, helplessness, and more. If you’ve been on this journey yourself, you know what I’m talking about. After living with unexplained infertility for so long, I finally had success with IVF. At 43, I am a very blessed and grateful mommy of a two year old.

I believe we have natural talents in combination with our life experiences to share in positive and loving service. And so, I am taking my life and wellness coaching practice in a new direction in service of my sisters facing fertility challenges. To improve the support I can offer, I am learning more about the experience others are having on their fertility journeys. And who knows, there may well be a book or two gestating here.

To that end, through the month of February I am surveying women who have either faced fertility challenges in the past or who are in the midst of facing them now, as well as women and men who know someone else on this journey.
